how do i get the binary data of that image here so that i can make into a picture by copying that..,

Answer :
Assuming you are running your program from the command line, you can't display the image there because your command line interface (shell prompt) can't display images.

Just read the content as you would when you are reading a string, then save the content to a file. When you open the file with a program that can display images (web browser, ms paint, photoshop, etc), it should then come up as the image there.

Do you Believe in Fate?

My parents broke up before they married. During their 3 year break they didn't speak but reunited when they ran into each other atop the eiffel tower in Paris.... They say that it was fate that brought them together. What do you think? It can't be a coincidence it's too big.

Answer :
I used to believe in fate. I prayed for things, and they never came. Now I hate my life, I just want to find the right girl. That's asking for too much apparently.

Answer :
I believe everything happens for a reason and things can be extremely coincidental, but not sure I believe in fate. Although in your parents case it sounds like it.

Answer :
yes I believe in fate. Things may not work out in the moment but if its meant to be it will find its way.

Answer :
I absolutely believe in fate! That's an amazing story about how they reunited, and talk about romantic! I'm also a believer in karma and destiny and all of that sort of stuff.

Answer :
Fate? Karma? Destiny?

Who knows.

When people are happy about something, it's fate. When it's by pride, it's destiny. When it's bad, it's called Karma coming back to pay it's dues. When it's something out of control, it's wrong. When it's something you have waited for, it's right.

Was it meant to be, or not meant to be? That question is answered only in the end. You'll have to wait till the end to find out.

It's all up to the one calling it fate, destiny or otherwise.

Perhaps there is something out there in the realm of fortune. The only thing that lasts, is the one who lives through it.

Good for your parents. They had something wonderful happen. Don't ever forget that. Let it give you hope and inspiration for your own life, and what someday you will finally decide to believe. It's all up to you. It's your thoughts that matter.

Answer :
I was just talking about this at work today!!!! Read the news and this guy that was on vacation was on the beach headphones on and a glider type plane had to make an emergency landing on the same beach and struck him from behind killing him! I swear it was his time to die it was him picked out by higher powers!! ,What were the chances that this poor man was in the exact area,,,exact time,,etc...he was not even from that state! So many weird things happen to people and it cannot be a coincidence!!!!

Answer :
Not like that. I do think things happen for a reason, though. Sometimes it just takes a long time to see how it all fits together.

Answer :
I believe in fate, but I also beleive you have to act when the oppurunity knocks.......such as trying to get back with an ex etc......

It may be fate but you can also through a blip in that if you do something you are not suppose to or it may slow down that fateful meeting etc....

Is fashion a good reason to visit France?

I'm doing a project for school on the countries, and I have to have three good reasons to visit each country. I have the Eiffel Tower and food as my two other reasons, but I still need a third. Would fashion be a decent reason? Now, you should understand how the project works. My teacher wants us to pick the main tourist attractions, the ones the vast majority of tourists go to. If the tourists were split into three groups, these would be the attractions you would find all of them at, save for a few other people. Would fashion be a main attraction? And don't say that my teacher wouldn't want me to put fashion because it sounds like I care more about fashion that France. We're talking about the general population here. Everyone. I don't want an opinion either. I want facts only. I don't care if you would like to go to France to go shopping and all that, would the general population do that? Thank you, I hope you deserve it.

Answer :
I think many people outside of France are very curious to see French culture and people when they visit. Museums like the Louvre(the Mona Lisa is famously housed there), Montparnasse Cemetery, Arc de Triumph, hearing the language, seeing how people live there, conversing with locals, etc.

Shopping or fashion might entice many travelers but it would be very expensive and is limited to fashion enthusiasts.

Answer :
Around fashion week many people come for fashion. And shopping in Paris is really great. I am sure some people go to Paris just to go shopping, most people probably come for culture. But people who care about fashion also come to shop.

Answer :
OK. I understand what you are asking. You have to differentiate between France and Paris.

Many people from abroad are content just to go to Paris, at least for their first visit, because it is the capital and it is choc-a -bloc with historical and cultural sites. So even French people who live in the provinces will go there to get to see their own capital, and pick the same things as the majority of foreign tourists who come from all over the world. Paris itself is the world's most visited place.

Strictly, speaking food and fashion are not the objectives of most ordinary people who go to Paris though it may be a secondary interest. Those that go for fashion as a reason are usually in the fashion business and they want to see the new collections, but they are a minority. The majority of tourists really go to Paris for is the sights. I have escorted many groups and the most usual places they put on top of their agenda are the following, in no particular order:
The Eiffel Tower
The Louvre
Notre-Dame de Paris
The Sainte-Chapelle
Palais de Versailles
Cimetière du Père Lachaise
Musée d' Orsay
The catacombs
Pompidou centre
The Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Elysées
All this is because they have heard of them as "must sees".
Many opt for a cruise of some sort on the Seine or a tourist bus that drives round Paris so that they can see the most important buildings from the exterior.

They are quite happy to eat a sandwich or a salad at lunch time, and to go to a restaurant that is within their budget in the evening, but the food is only a secondary consideration.

Women who have heard about Parisian style go shopping for clothes, but only in moderation because prices are very high , and often they combine this with sight seeing. Few people will travel exclusively to Paris to buy clothes unless they are extremely rich, or they are fashion buyers for famed outlets abroad.

Restaurants in Paris range from brilliant and extremely expensive to ordinary bistros where the local population goes at lunch time and where standard but not gourmet dishes are served. Many Americans and English people often are not all that keen on elaborate cuisine and flock to the Mc Donald's for instance. Foreigners are curious about the food but do not make it the specific purpose of their visit, unless they are gourmets or foodies, and, again, have money to spend.

When it comes to the rest of France people go for the global experience: a specific region where there are different attractions, depending on their personal interests: medieval towns, cathedrals, castles, prehistoric sites, dolmens, menhirs, caves, abbeys, etc.. or a mixture of these things. They do look at shops but do not go specially for fashion there and are more interested by local made things: artifacts, hand made goods, perfume, etc.. or they may buy the local food specialities like cheese, biscuits, foie gras, etc..
Some regions specialise in specific dishes which are served more than others in that particular region, like bouillabaisse in Provence, buckwheat Crèpes in Brittany, choucroute in Alsace, beef stew in Burgundy etc.. but people would not go to that region just for the food.

What you must also realise is that many people visit France and only go to a specific region, like the Americans would go to the Grand Canyon or a national park and are not particularly drawn by food or fashion.

Many tourists go there just for a specific purpose like a sport: skiing , mountaineering, sailing , paragliding, walking, etc...Some go for a pilgrimage to a shrine, or walk the length of France to go to Compostella in Spain as a challenge, or simply travel to spend time on a beach and "have a good time" (which you think is the reason why a boy got a poor grade for talking about , but which is the truth). Many Americans for instance are not in the least interested by Paris or the main cities in other areas, and simply go to the French Riviera ( Nice , Cannes etc...) because they are fashionable sea side resorts, and many celebrities patronise the area, have their yacht there and go there to meet people of their kind and be seen...Others go to the Atlantic beaches because of the miles of sand and the surfing.
What I am trying to say is that there are hundreds of reasons why people choose France as a holiday destination and for Northern Europeans it may even only be the temperature or the climate!
However if what you want is concentration and the options chosen by the majority of tourists then go for the main sites in Paris that are heaving with visitors all year round.

PS. After laboriously writing all this, I had a second thought and looked on the net.
If what you want is exact statictics, here you go:
http://www.francethisway.com/places/top-…

Since several amusement parks figure in the top visited attractions, this makes my point about what are the reasons behind people's motivations.

Answer :
Well, we know who will wear the pants in your family. haha a fashion joke! And the truth. You seem to know the answer to your own question and it is your homework so go with your heart.

HERE'S A RIDDLE IF U CAN SOLVE?

question:caN a KaNgaroo JUMP higher Than The Eiffel Tower????

anSwer- yeSS..

coz THE Eiffel Tower CAn'T juMP...

caN AnyBody tELL hoW?

Answer :
UHHHHHHHHH.............................. ITS A BUILDING AND BUILDINGS CANT JUMP AND KANGAROOS ARE ANIMALS SO THE KANGAROOS CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…

Answer :
this is one of the popular "trick questions", meaning that the question puts the person asked on a different trail than the trail that leads to the answer, formally speaking. :p
the question that the person asked is intended to interpret is whether a kangaroo can jump OVER the Eiffel Tower. the real question, on the other hand, is whether the kangaroo can jump higher THAN the Eiffel Tower. So for example: the kangaroo jumps 2 meters high. can the Eiffel Tower beat the kangaroo???

taadaa! i love the joke!!

Answer :
Ha ha. This would have been an amusing post if you hadn't ruined it with all those annoying, improper, hard to read capital letters.

Answer :
You have yet to learn how to spell I am a spelling Nazi....Now the capitals were unnecessary and in case you have not noticed there is a spell checker!

Prices of Paris attractions?

I want to prepare a budget for visiting Paris, but most of the web sites don't have much price info.
I need info for the following:

Cathedral of Notre Dame
The Eiffel Tower (top)
Arc de Triomphe
Versailles
Louvre
Fragonard Perfume Museum
Basilica de Sacre Coeur

Answer :
Actually, all of the websites have the prices on them, and in English too. The only exceptions are the two churches.

Notre Dame - no fee, unless you want a guided tour, then it's 6 € - http://notre-dame-de-paris.monuments-nat…

Eiffel Tower - 3rd deck - 13.00 € for an adult - It is on the website at http://www.tour-eiffel.fr/teiffel/uk/pra… - can book tickets online in advance

Arc de Triomphe - 9 € for an adult - On the website at http://arc-de-triomphe.monuments-nationa…

Versailles - 18 € for standard admission, but there are different things to choose from. Take a look at the different options on the website at http://en.chateauversailles.fr/prepare-m… - can book tickets online in advance

Louvre - 9.5 € is the standard rate, but check the website for all the options - http://www.louvre.fr/llv/pratique/tarifs…

Fragonard Perfume Museum - website says "free guided tour" - http://www.fragonard.com/parfums_grasse/…

Basilica de Sacre Coeur - "Free admission to basilica; dome and crypt €5" - details at http://www.sacred-destinations.com/franc…

Anybody just need out?

I do. And by 'out' I mean away. I'm sitting here on the couch in my living room, a place I've been so many times, all alone. Such a familiar place, and it depresses me to think that in all the places I could be right now, it's here. In this same place.

I was bored, so I went on facebook, and looked through some of my sibling's pictures of their recent adventure in the Dominican. It wasn't the first time I saw them. It makes me angry to look at them, but it also gives me a sense of excitement. Pictures of them all in crystal clear blue waters, pictures of them 4-wheeling through some of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Pictures of them at their resort getting dresses up going out for dinner. I want to do that someday. But, in my eyes, that's nothing!

I want to see the wonders of the world, I want to walk the most deserted places in all the Earth, I want to visit such landmarks like the Taj Mahal, the Eiffel Tower, Rio de Jeneiro, Sydney Opera House, the Grand Canyon. I want to go bunjee jumping in New Zealand, see a baobob tree in Madagascar, look at Mt. Everest, walk through Times Square, ride a gondola through Venice, step foot on the deserts in Jordan. EVERYTHING. I'm only thirteen and still have a lot of life to live. But I'm hoping that I can do some of these things in this life because I feel like my life wouldn't be complete if I didn't travel. It is my passion and I know that for a fact.

All my life, since I knew that these things existed, I've wanted to experience them so badly, I can hardly describe it. I flew on an airplane for the first time a couple years ago, and honestly, it's one of my favorite things ever. I can't wait to go on a plane again. Just looking down at the Earth and trying to imagine how big it really is. Just seeing planes land and take off excite me.

There's a television show on OLN called Departures. My brother discovered it and got me hooked on it. It's about two Canadian guys who decide to drop everything, and just travel the world. I don't know how they did it, where the got the money or anything, but they did. They took a year and just traveled. I wish it was that simple.

If I was capable (and allowed of course), I would jump on a plane right now and go...anywhere. I wouldn't think twice, because I've wanted to travel for all my life. And it's frustrating because the only thing holding me back from that, is something as simple as a piece of paper. Money.

I've always dreamed of growing up, getting married, having kids, being successful in a job. I have no idea what that job is yet, and I have lots of time to figure it out, but I need to travel. I don't understand how anyone could not enjoy it.

I mean, I love my life now, I love my family, friends, my home, my community, my country! But I think sometime in my life I'm going to need to say goodbye to these things for a little while. It'll be hard, but it'll be worth it.

I don't even know what I'm trying to say. This isn't even a question, I'm just going on about my future, my passion, my dreams. All i know is, I just got bitten. I got bitten by the travel bug.

Answer :
Sounds fine.
Until you can start doing this for real, you could collect foreign postcards, currencies, souvenirs.
I think there are postcard-exchange clubs you can join where you promise to mail one to somebody in a foreign country if they mail you one. That should give you some inspirational wallpaper.
Maybe there is some Young Travelers club you could join?

Sites like couchsurfing.com are good for finding hosts to stay with.

Why not also write/email OLN Departures hosts and ask them for suggestions?

If you feel you want to do this for a living, not just wanderlust, you might start thinking of careers like travel journalist, snowboard instructor, wine sommelier, tour guide, resort rep, wandering bouzouki player...
Maybe you could get some small travel article published in some local newspaper.
Did you know that travel guides like Let's Go Guide hire lots of student researchers and fact-checkers every year - the pay sucks but you get to do what you enjoy.

Engagement night....?

My girlfriend and I have been together for 4 (almost 5) years.

This weekend, we're flying together to Paris, France for our anniversary of being 5 years together. I'm going to propose to her there, and I need some advice.

If she says yes (hopefully she will), I want to have sex with her. Could we have sex together on our engagement night or shall we wait until our wedding night/honeymoon? Married couples: what did you do?

I was thinking of proposing to her near the Eiffel Tower (of course). Any other way to make it very, very special? I'm really excited--but very nervous. I really want this to be special.

Thanks. No mean/rude remarks, please!

Answer :
I would wait until the wedding night, thats what me and my hubby did.

Congratulations ahead of time, sounds like it will be a amazing night :-)

Answer :
My advice is to wait until your wedding night.. Props to ya for waiting this long! Me and my fiance' are waiting until our wedding night and we are super excited! That is the way God wanted it to be. Congratulations! What an exciting time!

Answer :
Honestly, I wouldn't try to sleep w/her the night of your engagement, or she'll feel like that's the only reason you asked.

Answer :
My husband and I waited for our wedding night and it was well worth it.. my advice is wait and you'll see how much more special it'll be

Congrats! I'm sure you'll get that YES you hope for

Answer :
If you've waited five years, you may as well wait until your wedding night. If you're going to have sex before marriage you could have been doing it for ages! Well done for waiting, you have far more self control than me!

Good luck, I'm sure she'll say yes.

The Beatles - Here Comes the Sun
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6tV11acS…

So what do you think of the number 1 choice? What would be your number 1?

Man, that was pretty neat. Thanks a lot everybody for coming along with me on this, and all the really nice things said along the way. Thanks so much for playing along for these last couple months. I'm glad that people enjoyed it too.

Additional Details

Thanks a lot everybody. I really appreciate all of the kind words. This has been just a whole lot of fun and I'm really grateful that you guys came along with me. Funny thing is that if I rewrote the list today it would probably look very different.

For anyone who is interested. I've been swamped and unable to check out the first installment, but it looks like the good Captain is starting a new series that I'm excited to get into. I may also try to find a new angle or some new thing round about May after the tax season storm subsides. At any rate, I bet anything that the Captain comes up with will be awesome.

Thanks again everybody. All these nice things, and I can only really jump in and say a quick thanks for now, but really. Thanks.

Answer :
thanks for all the new music you have introduced me to i have really enjoyed your rundown what next how about a101 mixed tape rules of cover versions i think you could really get your teeth into that as for the number 1 selection yes spot on so long from a mixed tape rules fan long live prof anger pro tools

Answer :
hey prof

tune

thanks for all the wonderful noises you have showcased these last few months.
awesome doesn't even come close.
to paraphrase an expression i believe may be used occasionally in america - missing the mix already.

and thanks for the plug, i hope i don't disappoint.

Answer :
Great Beatles tune ! I guess Abbey Road is my favorite album of theirs along with Sgt Pepper and do like this song a lot though my favorite would have to be I Want You - it's just a really sexy song.
Have a cool weekend Prof

Answer :
Wonderful choice for number 1! And really great mix tape! Very cool and diverse!
Where can I find the full list though?

Right now, I would probably have Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Child (Slight Return) as number 1, but if I think about it, I might change my mind.

Answer :
Wow, its finally come to completion, congrats!!!

I hope to return to write a little "something" in honor of your epic undertaking

my number one is usually "God Only Knows" Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys

Answer :
Such a beautiful, uplifting, life-affirming song.

The sun was rising behind me as I was driving into work today and I spontaneously began singing it :-)

And yeah... it was great seeing how many people guessed The Beatles yesterday ~lol~ your 'peeps' got you nailed, Prof! :-D

I can't believe it's been 3+ months ~ but it has! Wow. That a lot. And looking forward to what was coming next and discovering all the great stuff along the way... was just great. Thanks very much, Prof. You rock!

My number 1?? Dang. I don't know... will have to mull it over.

**edit**
Done mulling. I know, that was fast ;-)

Answer :
Nice. Despite all the correct guesses yesterday, you stuck with it. Coulda gone with something crazy and fooled everyone.

My #1? I'm not sure I could ever really do one of these. I've answered Shotgun Willie's 50 albums thing two years running and that is tough enough. Speaking of that album thing, where are the results? It's been like 2 months.

-----------
When you get to the raping part, I'm in Queens.

Answer :
Hi prof anger!

That is a perfect number one song from a number one band. Here Comes The Sun is an amazing song! My number one would be... hmm... I'm not sure. I guess since it would be a mix tape, I'd pick a random favorite song. I guess I'll go with "Wicked Garden" by Stone Temple Pilots.

I didn't answer many of these, but I did look at a lot of the ones you posted. I'd like to say you have an amazing and very unique taste in music, and that I hope you make another mix tape someday. Have a nice day, and weekend!

Answer :
Hey Prof!

Definitely one of the best Beatles songs. I've always liked this version better though.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stqH8HAk7…

Anyways great song and for my #1 song you just couldn't expect anything less then The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony. I know in the last question I said I would choose "History" but looking back I realized I would have to hard of a time not including this song. I don't care what anyone else says about the stones or the like. I Just get an amazing vibe every time I listen to this song and I guess thats really what music is all about.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zx3m4e45b…

I'm looking forward to whatever countdown you hopefuly have in the woks for us. If you don't have one I'd highly suggest it. These people (ok me included) really value your musical opinon.

Answer :
hey Prof :)

i cant believe it's over :(

i like Here Comes the Sun alot, it's a good tune. For #1 I'd of put maybe Sludgefeast by Dinosaur Jr
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yi1LrNtVl…

i enjoyed it alot, you should do another one some time!

have an awesome weekend!

Answer :
Hey Prof!

A great choice for # 1! One of the main songs that got me into The Beatles. As close to a perfect song as they come.

Really enjoyed the countdown. It was something really unique and seemed to bring out the best faces of R&P on a regular basis. We'll have to find something else to entertain ourselves with.

Answer :
Awesome job, Prof! I think it's a great tune to wrap things up with...ending things on a very happy note. It was a great countdown.

I have a few songs I would choose from when it comes to a number 1, but choosing between them would be tough. Don't know if I could do it!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Answer :
Hey Prof,
I'm not much of a Beatles person anymore but still I think that's a beautiful song. Number one for me would be "The Passenger" by Iggy Pop.

Thanks for doing this. It was interesting and alot of fun. You posted alot of stuff I love but haven't listened to in a long time. It was nice to revisit those songs. And you posted bands I've never listen to so thanks for bring them to my attention. Well done.

How would one resize a photo and print it onto fabric at a fair price, or no money at all?

* Let me just disclaim that I wrote this without knowing I was signed in as my mother.*

My school is hosting prom this year, and we have the theme as "A Night in Paris" .. Our drama department was kind enough to lend us pieces of their set to use as our decorations.

We found they had large black frames, and I came up with an awesome idea. I wanted to get famous landmarks from Paris ( i.e. the Moulin Rouge, The Eiffel Tower, etc ) and print them onto fabric, staple the fabric to the frames, then light it up.

Only problem is, how would I do that? I'm aiming for black and white photos as it is, and the frames around roughly 3 feet by 1.5, so please help!

All help is appreciated.

Giggles

Answer :
It would be far cheaper to print them onto paper which you have photoshopped to look like canvas

Answer :
I would print them on acetate (like for overhead projectors...it goes through your printer), put white nylon behind the acetate, then light that from the back.

Answer :
Most you can get is a 11 in by 8 in piece of fabric with the photo
Anything larger and you will pay a few hundred each.

Three days in Paris...what should we go see and where should we go?

My husband and I are going to PAris March 28 to April1. We are in our mid-20's. We are on somewhat of a budget but don't mind spending money to see/do incredible things. The eiffel tower is obvious to see, but what else is worth seeing and doing??? Thanks

Answer :
In my opinion, walking is the best way to see Paris. There are the basic tourist destinations: Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Place de la Concorde, Champs Elysees, and about 20 other museums that I could run off. I would suggest that you really look at what you want to do before you get there (so you don't spend valuable time trying to figure it out when you are there). Then, map it out. Try to work in as much as you can in each day. For example, you could go see Notre Dame on the Ile de la Cite (go early in the am to avoid the crowds) then spend some time on Ile St. Louis which is the second of the two islands in the Seine. There is also a wonderful Church on the Ile de la Cite called Saint Chapell which has the bible mapped out in stained glass. It is truly exquisite. These two islands and what there is to see there could take half a day or more. Grab a bite to eat at one of the Cafes along the way and just watch the people go by. I would suggest the Louvre (again go early) as a half day or more excursion - depending on how much you can take in at a time. Some people get full after a few hours, and some can look at art all day. There is a wonderful restaurant in the lower lobby called the Le Grand Louvre. It is expensive, but really worth it if you want to splurge If not, there are less expensive cafes too. After the Louvre, walk down its Tuileries Gardens (you will be able to see the Arc de Triomphe in the distance). Along the way you will see the Place de la Concorde (where Marie Antoinette was executed) and then the Champs Elysees. You can end at the Arc de Triomphe. There is also a wonderful ferry that runs in the River Seine called the Batobus. You can purchase a day or week pass and it runs around the river beginning at the Eiffel Tower making stops all along the route as it circles the two islands and goes back up to the Eiffel Tower. You can get off and on anywhere it stops (just like a bus). It is a wonderful way to see the city from the river and just get around. Start at the Eiffel Tower and get off at the Louvre or Notre Dame walk around, then get back on and stop somewhere else. Be sure to stop at a lot of cafes and just sit and watch the people go by. It is a wonderful way to take in the city. One of our favorite things to do is take a long walk after dinner around the Champ de Mars. It is so beautiful to watch the lit Eiffel Tower and all the people gathered on the grass, just hanging out. I know this is a lot, and I am just scratching the surface, so be sure to plan ahead - you will have to with only 72 hours. Use a good travel book on Paris to choose what you want to see, then map it out. And don't be afraid to change the plans if you find a place you fall in love with and want to spend more time visiting. I hope this helps and have a great trip.

Answer :
Paris is really small you can walk from one side to the other well under a day. If you google map it you should find it easy to see alot of stuff by walking or sorting out the trains lines that link up. You can easily see the big 3 in one day and more.
I would suggest exploring the 2 middle islands (with notre dame) plus either the latin quarter (w Luxembourg gardens) or the marais (with gorgous place des vosges) in one day and see the arc de triomph or eiffel tower at night.
Another day could be taken seeing some lesser known areas where you see some nice streets and actually fit in. I would suggest following the canal St martin from the 19th down towards the bastille area.
Dont waste time in the louvre but whilst in the centre of paris check out its grounds. Montmartre is also a little over rated but check it out and get a coffee if you feel like it.

Just quickly see the main sites than relax and explore each quartier with parks and cafes

Answer :
Start with the Louvre and the D'Orsay museums. Branch out from there if you want/can.
I love Le Petit Journal, a jazz club and restaurant across the boulevard from the Jardin de Luxembourg.
Either climb to the top of Notre Dame or up the steps of Sacre d'Coeur for the best views of the city ... without having to do the crowded and exorbitant ride to the top of Eiffel's mistake. (Some good bargin shopping in the streets at the foot of Sacre d'Coeur, too.)
Go to the free Sunday organ concert at Saint Sulpice, walk the Jardin de Luxembourg and the Tuilleries.
Stop for drinks, shopping, and people watching on the Champs-Élysées. Visit the famous graves at Père Lachaise cemetery.
And spend every evening at a sidewalk cafe or restaurant for wonderful food and drink.

Have a piece of luxurious chocholate at Jadis et Gourmande in 39, rue des Archives.
For restaurants: 1) Le dome du Marais in 53, rue Francs-Bourgeois ; 2) Chez Julien, a bistro at 1,rue du Pont Louis-Philippe 3) Or take your chance in any place that's attractive to you. Stick to the prie fix meals -- a set meal for a cheaper price that day -- and you won't have a bad meal! (I've only had 1 so-so meal in Paris over the course of many months.)

For touristy: forget the Eiffel. The surrounding Jardin de Luxembourg is gorgeous though, and if you want to splurge on one meal/event, across the boulevard is Le Petit Journal, a wonderful jazz club and restaurant. Go to Sacre d'Coeur for the best view of the entire city -- it's the highest hill in Paris -- without having to pay. You'll also find lots of shops, including bargains, at the foot. Sacre d'Coeur is a lovely church, you see in dazzling white in many pictures of Paris.
I love paying the fee to climb to the top of Notre Dame to hang out with the gargoyles and take photos (on a non-hazy day) from the room.
And don't forget to hit a nice boulangerie and fromagerie for a baguette and some brie to eat on a bench by the Seine. You'll find them everywhere, but my favorites are along the river around the islands.
Bon Voyage!

Answer :
The Whisky Shop has a few http://www.whiskyshop.com/ although best to visit one of their shops as their window displays are often quite intersting (e.g. golf ball shaped, glass bottle with a tap etc.

cheers i have come across a vodka based drink called DQ what comes in a completly cylinder shaped bottle with a twist cap and lights up and bubbles £50 its nice the link you gave me has some good bottles 2

Answer :
Just do a google search for "interesting alcohol bottles" or "cool alcohol bottles".

Do you specifically want the alcohol in the original bottles, because if not, you could always buy really neat decanters from antique shops. That's what I do with some of mine.

Answer :
I saw a Vodka bottle at the liquor store yesterday that was shaped as a skull. The Vodka cost $45. I do not recall the name, but I am sure you could Google it easily enough.

Who has visited the eiffel tower, i have some questions?

Well, im making a model out of wood, what color should i paint it?
Also, if you stood under it, what shape would the landing be, a square or a rectangle?
What about the other landings?
Can you stand at the very topmost landing?
Will it work if i construct four side views, and then put those sides together?

Answer :
Hi
I live in Paris and as a Professional Photographer will send you a few images if that would help.

You will have to add me as a contact and then email me so I can forward the attachments.

But to answer some of your questions.

The landing is Square on both the first and second floor. Le Jules Verne occupies one of them completely.

You can go to the very top to the observation deck.

Not sure about how to construct it...

Answer :
The same architect constructed the Statue of Liberty.

The color is special to the Eiffel Tower and probably won't be changed anymore, though it has been many colors over the years. Currently it is is a gray-brown color. It has 3 levels. Levels One and Two are good enough for any tourist. The third level has a restaurant, very very expensive, but I think anyone can go there.

What is most distinguishing is that it is lite at night, very impressive, much like a fireworks show. It has fast twinkling light shows every hour at the top of the hour. Then there is a rotating beacon of strong white light coming from the very top. The color of the lights is changed every few years, or for special occasions, like the Olympics. Currently the lights are yellow-gold. The lighting should definitely be included on your model. You should be able to find a toy model or outline somewhere. This year is the 120th anniversary of the Eiffel Tower.

It has 3 viewing areas (outside floors) accessed by elevator and stairs. It is on a square concrete pad, quite large, under it. A rectangular ticket office is under it. There are very nice pay-binoculars mounted on the outside railings. There were soldiers on the ground carrying machine guns. It's located in a little park, with a bigger park on one side.

There are two small Statue of Libertys on a small island in the Seine, and another nearby of just the head, full size head. The two small versions are visible from the Eiffel Tower.

Will David Haye fall into the trap that he set?

Ok i know i will be attacked from some British fans here and some accounts of the "party" here but i have some opinions about this man that i need to be vocal about .

I know many people (for obvious reasons) call this man the future or fresh breathe of air etc but i want to share with you what i read here in KO magazine (french edition) that the British or American media for some odd reason (ha) do not mention often!
David Haye from the day he got the title (his manager actually) has get phone calls from all these men for a possible title fight:

Chagaev
Povetkin
Ustinov
Denis Boytsov
Tomasz Adamek
Odlanier Solis

and according to the source David seems to said through his manager :"That David full filled his main dream to become a HW champ and he does not know how long he will stay in the division after his fight with Ruiz"

So the man who would clean up the division seems to taking another path now?He won't kill the Klitschkos (that he already ducked?) He won't take any challenges?

I mean i know it's fine some peeps from the "party" will come and tell me you racist David is a world class fighter he will kill these Bums and stuff and guys it's ok in hot air words i can destroy Eiffel Tower and reconstruct it in 24 hours as well ;) lol

All i am saying is that Boytsov,Povetkin,Chagaev or Klitschkos aint no Monte Barrett , Enzo Maccarinelli , Giacobbe Fragomeni , Lasse Johansen or old rusty Valuev (that Haye never really won) they all world class fighters with glorious amateur and professional past and i dunno how well the chin and power of Haye will do against them!

Haye looks good for obvious reasons for the division but let's be realistic here, the Eastern Euros are very hungry men :)

Answer :
Knight, I'm not sure if I understood your question correctly but I will say this - in my opinion, David Haye is the biggest hype job and media creation boxing has had in last 20 years. All that this man ever does is run his trap and doesn't have the skill or talent to back anything up in the ring. The second he faces a prime, real fighter he's going to get exposed badly. His biggest accomplishments thus far were victories over a completely shot Jean Marc Mormeck then Enzo Maccarinelli (we all know how much that one is worth now) and Valuev highway robbery of course. This is what all the hype is about, all that the heavyweight savior has to show for.

These men you spoke of, except for Alexander Ustinov, are all elite heavyweight boxers and all of them would beat Haye, I have no doubt (Solis already did when they fought as amateurs). Ustinov is the only one who would lose. He is too slow, too stiff, square on and still fights like a typical kick boxer and that wouldn't work. There is always a chance that he might land something big, but I think that's very unlikely. If Valuev couldn't knock Haye out, neither would Ustinov. But you replace him with Eddie Chambers and maybe put Chris Arreola in there too and you still have seven heavyweight boxers, outside of the Klitschko brothers, who could kick Haye's @ss at this moment.

On the side note, the good news is that Ruslan Chagaev is about to become Haye's next mandatory challenger. He's supposed to fight Kali Meehan in the eliminator next month. When Chagaev gets through (no disrespect to Meehan, but Ruslan really shouldn't have much problems here) it will be very interesting to see what happens. I'll bet you a million dollars that Haye will find some excuse to punk out of that one too.

Ifs and butts. Knight, I'm here to be exposed, mate. Save all my answers regarding Haye if you like. The fact of the matter is that none of these guys have fought Haye (yet) and until they do it's impossible to say with any real conviction that they would beat him. It's almost as if your saying they have already fought and beat him. I've said before, other than Adamek, i don't see any of them guys giving Haye too much trouble, that's my opinion, I'm certain yours is very different.

I would love to see a Haye-Adamek fight at HW, it would be great, and i would also love to see Haye fight Wlad and Vitali. Not saying he would win, but I'm not saying he would lose either, catch my drift? He has to get his mandatory (against Ruiz) out of the way first, only when that is done will we be able to see Haye's intentions more clearly through his choice of opponents. If he goes the easy route he picks the fringe contenders, if he wants the hard route he goes straight for the Klitschkos and Adameks. Until then we can only speculate whether or not Haye is avoiding the toughest challenges at HW.

P.S Wladamir quickly pulled out of his fight with Haye when David picked up a minor back injury, it would have postponed the fight only by a few weeks, a month max. Why couldn't Wlad wait? I thought Wlad was desperate to give Haye a "pizza face"?

Answer :
I do believe that Haye has the skills to beat Povetkin, Ustinov, Poytsov, Adamek, and Solis. The only boxer that i think Haye will lose is Ruslan Chagaev. Ruslan is a highly rank heavyweight. Eventhough he struggled against Wladimir, I think he has what it takes to beat Haye who is a rising star.

Answer :
One reason he won't probably face them: $.

It doesn't matter if David Haye is an ATG, he talks smack, he's loud, and he brings alot of fans to the HW division because of his British popularity. In recent years, when people think of the HW, they think of one or two people: Muhammad Ali or Mike Tyson, what did those fighters bring to the table, flashy lifestyle and a talent for smack talking. That is what Haye is trying to replicate and what will bring him the most popularity and $.

I'm writing a novel, what do you think of this short draft?

The street outside was deserted. Alice pressed her face up to the glass and gazed down at abandoned crisp packets that blew forlornly in the wind. From downstairs she could hear the muffled hum of the television, followed by some of her fathers choicest swear words, reserved only for referees.
She visualised him, slouched in front the screen, a blue glow cast over his meaty face. Stains on his shirt, drink tipping in hand.
A bubble of disgust welled up inside her. "One day I'll get out of here" she whispers vehememtly, watching her breath fog up the window.
But when would that be?
Alice had spent her whole life in Dublin and had never known any other world. She had grown up playing on dusty streets and glass covered playgrounds, watching as the few green spaces she had once cherished made way to even more roads, concrete and soon to be dilapidated buildings.
Her friends had grown up into people she hardly knew, their lives dictated by what time the local pub opened and closed. School, although enjoyable had proved useless and college had only deepened her dislike of her fellow human beings.
Now at age twenty, there was simply nothing left for her here anymore.
Alice pulled her self away from the cold window, passing by the sketch of The Eiffel Tower beside her mirror.
"Oh my beloved Paris" she thought as she climbed into bed "One day I'll get to visit you".

Can someone please help me with my story plot/idea?

I've hit a major dry spell and I need to write a story. Please, what are some good/interesting plot ideas?
I have a huge brain fart, lol, and it is killing me(tears off a huge chunk of the Eiffel tower and eats it like Godzilla).
So, please, post whatever plot/idea you've got.
And do not post an answer if you're going to criticize me instead of help me. I asked for help on my plot; not to be called any names or put down.
It's a waste of your time and mine with that nonsense-
Oh, wow. I sound like Barney...I love U, U love me...okay....I'm gonna stop right there I think.......XD

Answer :
Well, it's hard to say whether you will like my ideas, but I can give you a suggestion. My first suggestion is to find a writing forum, such as http://writersnotebook.phpbb9.com , where there are other writers for you to piggy back off of. I know for a fact that the forum I posted has a contest with a prompt, you could try that. I know it's free to register. Hope I helped!

Answer :
Don't think of a plot; just make it up as you go along.
Write about personal experiences, like funny/sad/happy things that happened to you and add fiction into it, and make it like your own Twilight.

Is it illegal to camp under the Eiffel tower?

I am planning a newyears trip to parris and was wondering if this was illegal =]

Answer :
It is absolutely illegal to camp under the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower sits at one end of the Champ de Mars. No camping is allowed. The French Gendarmerie will throw you in jail if to try it.

Answer :
I don't know whether it's illegal or not but actually underneath the tower is concrete, it's like a public place where people just walk through. There's grass around it but I would imagine that would come under the same laws as public parks and generally speaking you can't camp in a public park. Anyway on New Year's Eve it would be absolutely freezing overnight!

You are standing 200 meters away from the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The height of the tower is 324 m (including the flagpole). Find the length of the missing side of this right triangle. Round to the nearest meter.

Answer :
The right angle is made from the building to the ground.

Therefore you can use the pythagorean theorum to solve this question.

a^2 + b^2= c^2

you have the numbers for a and b up there.

Square each one, add them together and that will equal c^2.

Therefore you must then take the square root to solve for the missing side.

Songs similar to these?

I've recently discovered a new appreciation for electronic music and was wondering if anyone could recommend some songs similar to these:
- Rockit - Herbie Hancock
- Chameleon - Herbie Hancock
- Pick Up The Pieces - Kenny G
- Electric Avenue - Eddy Grant
- I'm Blue - Eiffel 65
I know these are all pretty far off from each other but any interesting songs with synthesizers, vocoder, talk box, anything would really be appreciated.

Hubby and I will be in Paris for 4 days, what are the MUST SEE?

what are the main tourist spots in paris (aside from eiffel) and how far are they from each other? our hotel is located in a suburb called Asnières-sur-Seine so how far is that from disneyland and versailles? what are the trains to take?

we will be in disneyland paris for the 3rd day and versailles on the 4th day so we will basically spend only 2 days in the main city. we love museums, cathedrals and historical places so any suggestions?
thanks and 10 points to the best answer.

Answer :
I found the trains very confusing they have two systems that meet at various points. One is for inside the city the other goes outside the city so if you get on the wrong train you wont know until it is to late. I used the buses much easier. I would recommend checking out a pass like this one http://www.parispass.com/ it gives you access into major attractions without waiting in line. I believe there is a Shuttle that goes out to disneyland your hotel can let you know for sure.

Most of the major tourist attractions are within walking distance of each other, Notre Dame, Louvre, ect. the eiffel tower is on the other side of town. I would recommend the Pantheon it is where Marie Skłodowska-Curie is buried.

I'm not familiar with where your hotel is but I hope the other information is helpful.

*They use the Euro everywhere in Paris*

Answer :
The Louvre and Notre Dame are definitely must sees, and so is Napoleon's tomb. I wish I could tell you exactly where to find these places, but I had no trouble walking on foot to all three in one day, as well as hitting the subway to see the eiffel tower. They are all pretty close in that regards. I found I had the most fun just walking around on foot and admiring everything that caught my eye. I hope you guys have as much fun there as I did. Good luck.

Answer :
It's a good idea to have the Euro on hand for when you get there. Notre Dame Cathedral was amazing! We had Mass there on Sunday morning (and on nice days they say you can climb the steps to the tower).
The Louvre is supposed to be awesome, but the lines were insanely long. I recommend buying tickets in advance if you decide to go to the Louvre or Eiffel Tower. You can do so online. Also, not sure if you're aware, but admittance into Versaille is free on Sundays through March.
I'm not sure how far apart everything is, but we found it easy and inexpensive enough to use the Metro. You can also purchase Metro tickets in advance online.
Enjoy!!!

On the list of things to do in order:

1. Boat ride right before sunset.
This has got to be my favorite thing that I did when I last was in Paris. If you go along the river, you'll see boats that take you along to see the bridges. If you go during the daytime it is terrible! You need to get to the Eiffel Tower, and right about 30 minutes before sundown, you go to the river next to the tower and purchase a ticket for the next boat out. When you leave, you'll see the Eiffel Tower light up at night, and get to see all the famous bridges of Paris lit up.
I promise you that it will be your favorite thing, by far. Really scenic, very romantic.

2. The Louvre
If you love history or art at all you should visit the Louvre. They have some of the world's most famous sculptures and paintings there. The famous statue of Athena and the Mona Lisa are there, not to mention some of Michelangelo's works. Very big place. You can't really see all of it, it's just too much! The area is very close to everything else in Paris, so I suggest you take a walk around. It's pretty.

3. Go to the Cathedral Notre Dame.
This place is HUGE!!! I'm not even religious and I was just moved by the vastness of the main hall. I mean, they built it for the purpose of wow-ing peasants but I mean WOW! That place was cool.

4. Go shopping in Galeries Lafayette!
Biggest mall I've ever been to! I bought all the gifts for my friends and relatives there. The place is gigantic, and it'll even have some brands that you are familiar with. Plus plenty of stylish ones that you are not. It's not your typical mall :)

I didn't put the tower on here because obviously, you can't visit Paris without going to the Eiffel tower.

I also suggest that you guys do a lot of walking around the area. The buildings in some areas are very old and historic, and the streets are quaint. Visit the pubs!

I was only in Paris for two days sadly, but the one thing that I liked the most was the boat ride.
Make sure you go right before sunset!!!! If you go during the daytime it's just not the same. Not even close.

If you're wondering where everything is, simply Google them before you go. Google maps will have the subway stations and addresses. If you know how to get to Yahoo answers I assume you know how to use Google maps. Have a fun and safe trip!

I'm going back to France as soon as I get the chance. Probably this summer along with Barcelona.

Im looking for the cheapest deal to central Paris between the end of March and May ...?

Im looking to find the cheapest deal to Paris during this time.

It will be me and my boyfriend, and we will be travelling from London.

We ideally want to be staying right in the heart of paris, as we want to visit the Eiffel tower, la louve and maybe disneyland. We would ideally like to stay for 3 nights.

I have looked on lots of sites, but I get very confused when trying to look online, so my question is, can anybody find me a cheap deal please? The cheapest one wins the points!! So thank you in advance as I really need your help and it will be greatly appreciated.

Can a US citizen go out of the airport in Paris, Charle De Golle, when flying on transit, is visa needed?

I am a US citizen and will have 5hrs between my flights in Paris - can I go and see Eiffel Tower?

Answer :
No visa is needed to visit France (and most if not all of the EU) on vacation for less than 90 days. OTOH, 5 hours is not enough time to get to the city and back. Enjoy the authentic French food and duty free shopping in Charles de Gaulle. Great decor and a nice place to people watch and to speak French.

Answer :
There is a visa waiver for US citizens to enter the Schengen zone.
Here you have it explained from the official authorities:
http://www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/en/france_…
However, in any case, five hours betwen arrival and departure is insufficient. The airport is in the countryside outside Paris. There are long queues to go through immigration control and you are supposed to be in the airport two hours before your next flight takes off.
If you attempt it in so short a time gap, you are in great danger of missing your next flight, especially if your plane from the US is delayed at take off or has to queue in a stack to land on arrival.

Answer :
You do not need a visa to leave CdG, however five hours is nowhere near enough time to see the Eiffel Tower.
